Realtor Jane Fairweather says she used to get the “toos” when it came time to work out. “I used to think…I’m ‘too’ tired, it’s ‘too’ dark, I’m ‘too’ cold,” she says. But nowadays, Fairweather leaves her Bethesda condo at 5:30 a.m. and heads to a power fitness class.
Power fitness classes are not for everyone. They are, as they sound, intense and demanding. They involve rigorous exercise over a prolonged period of time. But more and more fitness clubs are offering the classes, whether they involve cycling, kickboxing or strength training—and more and more people are taking them. The benefits—both physical and emotional—are plentiful. “When I finish the class I feel good about myself and I’m in a much bettermood when I walk into my office,” Fairweather says.
